وأبو ذؤيب وهو هشام بن شعبة بن عبد الله بن أبي قيس، وكان من أشراف قريش، حبسه ملك الروم في عدة من أشراف قريش فمات في حبسه، وقد كتبنا خبره وخبرهم حين ذكرنا عثمان بن الحويرث بن أسد بن عبد العزى في نسب بني أسد بن عبد العزى. ومن ولده: محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن المغيرة بن الحارث بن أبي ذئب الفقيه ويكنى أبا الحارث، مات بالكوفة سنة تسع وخمسين ومائة وهو ابنتسع وسبعين سنة، وكان يفتي بالبلد. وروى عنه الواقدي، وكان يقال له ابن أبي ذئب.
