فأما عبد الله فأسلم قبل أبيه، وكان صالحا ومات سنة خمس وستين وهو ابن اثنتين وسبعين سنة، وقد حفظ عن النبي ﷺ، وروى عن أبي بكر وعمر وقد ذكرنا خبره في يوم صفين. وقال أبو اليقظان: كانت لعبد الله بن عمرو صحبة، واستأذن النبي ﷺ في أن يكتب ما يسمع، فكتب وكان يقول: ما شيء في الأرض أعز علي من كتاب كتبته عن رسول الله ﷺ، ومن ضيعتي الوهط (¬١)، وقال: ما سرني أن لي أبا عير عمرو بن العاص، وقاتل يوم صفين طاعة لأبيه، ولم يقره معاوية على عمل أبيه. فولد عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص:
