وأما الحارث بن هشام، أخو أبو جهل فكان يكنى أبا عبد الرحمن، أسلم يوم فتح مكة وحسن إسلامه، وقال: لا أدع واديا سلكته في قتال رسول الله ﷺ إلاّ سلكته في سبيل الله، ولا أدع درهما انفقته في قتاله إلا انفقت مثله في طاعة الله وطاعة رسوله، فغزا الشام فهلك في طاعون عمواس (¬١)، وقيل بل استشهد يوم أجنادين، وخلف عمر بن الخطاب على امرأته ابنة الوليد بن المغيرة، وهي أم عبد الرحمن الأصغر المكنى أبا شحمة، ودفع رسول الله ﷺ من عرفة بين الحارث وبين أبي سفيان بن حرب. فولد الحارث بن هشام:
