ومن بني الحارث بن أسد بن عبد العزى: أبو البختري، وهو العاص ابن هاشم بن الحارث بن أسد، قتل يوم بدر كافرا، وكان الذي قتله المجذر بن زياد، وقد كتبنا خبره فيما تقدم من كتابنا هذا، وأمه من بني عبد الدار بن قصي، وولد أبي البختري يقولون نحن بنو قتيل الملائكة، فقال بعضهم لابن لمصعب بن الزبير: أنا ابن عقير الملائكة فقال ابن مصعب، عمر بن مصعب: أنا ابن من نصرته الملائكة، يعني الزبير يعني حين قتله، وشر مقتول، فقال ابن أبي البختري: انا ابن من سد البطحاء، فقال ابن مصعب: سدها أبوك بسلحه، وفتحها أبي برمحه.
