فأمّا زمعة بن الأسود فكان يكنى أبا حكيمة، وفيه يقول أبو طالب بن عبد المطلب: عظيم الرماد سيّد وابن سيد وقتل يوم بدر كافرا. وقال معاوية بن أبي سفيان: كان زمعة فينا كهرقل في الروم، وكان يقال له زاد الراكب، فولد زمعة: عبد الله، وعقيلا، ووهبا ويزيد، قتل عقيل يوم بدر كافرا، ولا عقب له.
