يوم الشرعبية قالوا: التقوا بالشرعبيّة وعلى قيس عمير بن الحباب، وعلى تغلب وألفافها ابن هوبر، فكان بينهم قتل شديد وقتل يومئذ عمّار بن المهزّم وعاصم السلميان وكان يوم الشرعبيّة لتغلب على قيس، فقال الأخطل: ولقد بكى الجحّاف لمّا أوقعت … بالشرعبيّة إذ رأى الأهوالا (¬١) والشرعبيّة من بلاد بني تغلب، وبناحية منبج أيضا شرعبيّة. فبعضهم يقول إنّ هذه الواقعة كانت بناحية منبج وذلك غلط.
