يوم المعارك والمعارك بين الحضر والعقيق من أرض الموصل، قال: اجتمعت تغلب يوم السكير بهذا المكان، فالتقوا وقيس به، واشتدّ قتالهم فانهزمت تغلب، فقال ابن صفّار: ولقد تركنا بالمعارك منكم … والحضر والثرثار أجسادا جثّا فيقال: إنّ يوم المعارك والحضر واحد، هزموهم إلى الحضر فقتلوا منهم بشرا، وقال بعضهم: هما يومان مختلفان كانا لقيس والله اعلم.
