    يوم السّكير وهو يسمّى اليوم سكير العبّاس، قال: ولقي عمير بن الحباب تغلب والنمر وعليهم ابن هوبر بالسّكير، وهي قرية تشرع على الخابور، ومنها ناحية تشرع على الفرات فاقتتلوا فانهزمت تغلب والنمر، وهرب عمير بن جندل وكان من فرسان تغلب، وقال عمير بن الحباب: وأفلتنا يوم السكير ابن جندل … على سابح غوج اللبان (¬١) مثابر ونحن كررنا الخيل قبّا شوازبا … دقاق الهوادي داميات الدوائر وقال ابن صفّار: صبحناكم بهنّ على سكير … فلاقيتم هناك الأقورينا
