١٠٣٥٢- أبو العيال بن أبي عتبة الهذلي: من بني ضباعة، بن سعد بن هذيل، وهو أخو عبد بن وجزة الهذلي لأمه. ذكره ابن عساكر، فقال: مخضرم، أدرك الجاهلية وأسلم، وغزا في خلافة عمر فدخل مصر، ثم عمّر إلى خلافة معاوية، وغزا مع يزيد بن معاوية الروم، وكتب إلى معاوية قصيدة قالها في تلك الواقعة منها: أبلغ معاوية بن صخر أنّه ... يهوي إليه الفرند الأعجل أنّى لقينا بعدكم في غزونا ... من جانب الأبراج يوما ينسل أمرا تضيق به الصّدور ودونه ... مهج النّفوس وليس عنه معدل [الكامل] وحكى في ضبط والده خلافا هل بعد النون موحدة أو مثناة [٢٢٩] .
