عبد الرحمن بن عتبة «٣» بن عويم بن ساعدة:. ذكره البغويّ، وابن قانع، وأبو عمر في الصحابة، وقال: لا يصح له صحبة ولا رواية.وأخرج له بقيّ بن مخلد حديثا، وتمسكوا كلهم بما رووه من طريق محمد بن طلحة، عن عبد الرحمن بن سالم بن عبد الرحمن بن عتبة، عن أبيه، عن جده- رفعه: «إنّ اللَّه بعثني بالهدى ودين الحقّ ولم يجعلني تاجرا ولا زرّاعا وجعل رزقي في رمحي ... » الحديث. والحديث لعتبة بن عويم بن ساعدة، وفي سنده أورده الحميدي شيخ البخاري، ورويناه في الأربعين للآجري، من طريقه، وقد زدت ذلك بيانا في ترجمة عبيد بن عويم في القسم الأول.
