    ٨٦٦ ز- تميم بن ورقاء الخثعميّ: أدرك الجاهليّة، وكان عريف قومه في عهد عمر، وبعثه معاوية بفتح قيساريّة [ (٢) ] إلى عمر. ذكره ابن عساكر في ترجمة الحكم بن عبد الرحمن من طريق هشام بن عمار: حدثنا يزيد بن سمرة، عن الحكم بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي العصماء- وكان ممن شهد قيسارية- قال: حاصرها معاوية سبع سنين ومقاتلة الروم الذين يرزقون فيها مائة ألف، فدلّهم النطاق على عورة، وكان من الرهون، فأدخلهم من قناة يمشي فيها الجمل بالحمل، وكان في يوم الأحد، وهم بالكنيسة، فلم يشعروا إلا بالتكبير، فكان بوارهم. قال يزيد بن سمرة: فبعثوا بالفتح إلى عمر مع تميم بن ورقاء عريف خثعم، فقام عمر فقال: ألا إن قيسارية قد فتحت قسرا.
