٢٩٩ - الحسين بن محمد بن زياد أبو علي النيسابوري الحافظ القباني. قال الحاكم هو أحد أركان الحديث رحل وأكثر السماع وصنف المسند والأبواب سمع بنيسابور إسحاق بن إبراهيم الحنظلي وعمرو بن زرارة والحسين بن الضحاك ومحمد بن أبان المستملي وأقرانهم وبالعراق أبا بكر بن أبي شيبة وأبا معمر الهذلي وعبيد الله بن عمر القواريري ومنصور بن أبي مزاحم وسريج بن يونس وبالحجاز إبراهيم بن المنذر الحزامي وأبا مصعب الزهري وإبراهيم بن محمد الشافعي ومحمد بن عباد المكي روى عنه محمد بن إسماعيل البخاري. سمعت أبا محمد عبد الله بن علي الحصري يقول توفي جدي الحسين بن محمد بن زياد سنة تسع وثمانين ومائتين.
