١٦٧ - الحسن بن على بن الحسن بن على الاسكافى، أبو على. ذكره أبو بكر الخلال فقال: جليل القدر، عنده عن أبى عبد الله مسائل صالحة حسان كبار، أغرب فيها على أصحابه.سمعت بعضها بعلو عن محمد بن حمدان قاضى تكريت. وكتب إلى بتمامها يوسف بن عبد الله الإسكافى. فقال فى أثنائها: حدثنا الحسن بن على الإسكافى قال: سألت أبا عبد الله عن الهمّ؟ فقال: الهمّ همان. هم خطرات وهم إصرار. قال: وسألت أبا عبد الله عن معنى الغيبة؟ فقال: إذا لم ترد عيبا لرجل. قلت: فالرجل يقول: فلان لم يسمع، وفلان يخطئ. فقال: لو ترك هذا لم يعرف الصحيح من غيره.
