الحكم بن عمرو بن مجدع بن حذيم بن الحارث بن نعيلة بن مليك بن ضمرة بن بكر بن عبد مناة بن كنانة، ونعيلة ثعلبة هو أخو غفار بن مليك، فقيل للحكم بن عمرو الغفاري، وهو من ولد نعيلة، أخي غفار، وقد صحب الحكم النبي، ﷺ، حتى قبض، ثم تحول إلى البصرة فنزلها فولاه زياد بن أبي سفيان خراسان، فخرج إليها فلم يزل بها واليا حتى مات بها سنة خمسين في خلافة معاوية بن أبي سفيان.
