    يزيد بن الأخنس بن حبيب ابن جرة بن زغب بن مالك بن خفاف بن امرئ القيس بن بهثة ابن سليم، وهو أبو معن بن يزيد السلمي الذي روى عنه أبو الجويرية قال: بايعت النبي، ﷺ، أنا وأبي وجدي وخاصمت إليه فافلجني. وعقد رسول الله، ﷺ، ليزيد بن الأخنس يوم فتح مكة لواء من الألوية الأربعة التي عقدها لبني سليم. وسكن يزيد الكوفة بهد ذلك هو وولده، وشهد معن بن يزيد يوم المرج مرج راهط.
