    ١١٩٨- (٥) ومحمد بن أبان بن عمران أبو الحسن الواسطي أخو عمران بن أبان حدث عن جرير بن حازم وحماد بن سلمة وأبي عوانة وغيرهم روى عنه إبراهيم بن إسماعيل السوطي وإبراهيم بن إسحاق السراج النيسابوري. (١٣٦٨) أخبرنا الحسن بن أبي بكر أخبرنا عبد الله بن إسحاق البغوي حدثنا إبراهيم بن إسماعيل السوطي حدثنا محمد بن أبان أبو الحسن الواسطي حدثنا شعيب بن ميمون صاحب البزور وكان قدحج خمسا وستين حجة عن أبي جناب عن عامر الشعبي عن شقيق بن سلمة قال قلت لعلي بن ابي طالب كرم الله وجهه ألا توصي قال كيف أوصي ولم يوص رسول الله ﷺ إن يرد الله بهذه الأمة خيرا فسيجمعهم على خيرهم كما جمعهم على خير بعد نبيهم ﷺ.
