يحيى بن إسحاق بن يحيى الليثي بن أحمد بن يحيى قرطبي يعرف بالرقيعة يكنى أبا إسماعيل سمع من أبيه ورحل فسمع بإفريقية من يحيى بن عمر وابن طالب وبمصر من محمد بن أصبغ بن الفرج وبالعراق من إسماعيل القاضي وأحمد بن زهير وغيرهما. وشوور في الأحكام وكان متصرفاً في العربية واللغة والتفسير نبيهاً وألف الكتب المبسوطة في اختلاف أصحاب مالك وأقواله وهي التي اختصرها محمد وعبد الله ابنا أبان بن عيسى ثم اختصر ذلك الاختصار أبو الوليد بن رشد. وتوفي سنة ثلاث وثلاثمائة وقيل سنة ثلاث وتسعين.
