محمد بن بطال بن وهب بن عبد الأعلى أبو عبد الله التميمي من أهل لورقة رحل من بلده رحلتين: الأولى سنة ثمان وعشرين وثلاثمائة والثانية سنة ست وأربعين سمع في الأولى بمكة من بن الأعرابي وعبد الملك بن بحر الجلاب وبمصر من أحمد بن مسعود الزبيري وأبي القاسم العلاف وابن أبي الأصبغ وروى كتاب بن المواز عن علي بن عبد الله بن أبي مطر بالإسكندرية. وكان كثير الرواية مشهور العناية حدث بقرطبة وسمع منه جماعة. وتوفي بلورقة سنة ست وستين وثلاثمائة وهو بن اثنتين وستين سنة.
