عبد الأعلى أبو وهب بن وهب بن عبد الرحمن مولى قريش قرطبي سمع من يحيى بن يحيى ورحل إلى المشرق فسمع من مطرف بن عبد الله بالمدينة ومن أصبغ وعلي بن معبد بمصر ومن سحنون بإفريقية وانصرف إلى الأندلس فشوور بقرطبة مع الشيوخ: يحيى بن يحيى وسعيد بن حسان وعبد الملك بن حبيب وأصبغ بن خليل. وسمع منه بن لبابة وصحبه كثيراً وسمع منه بن وضاح وكان رجلاً حافظاً للرأي مشاركاً في علم النحو واللغة متديهاً زاهداً ولم تكن له معرفة بالحديث وكان يزن بالقدر وطالع كتب المعتزلة وكان يحيى بن يحيى وابن حبيب وإبراهيم بن حسين بن عاصم يطعنون عليه بذلك أشد الطعن. توفي سنة إحدى وستين وثلاثمائة.من الطبقة الرابعة من الأندلس:
