عبد الرحمن بن أحمد بن محمد ويعرف بابن القصير غرناطي كان فقيهاً مشاوراً رفيع القدر جليلاً بارع الأدب عارفاً بالوثيقة نقاداً لها صاحب رواية ودراية وولي القضاء وأخذ عن أبي الوليد بن رشد وأبي محمد: عبد الحق بن عطية وأبي الفضل: عياض بن موسى وابن الباذش وأبي إسحق بن رشيق وأبي بكر بن العربي وأبي عبد الله بن أبي الخصال وأبي الحسن بن مغيث وغيرهم من العلماء الجلة. وله تآليف وخطب ورسائل ومقامات وجمع مناقب من أدركه من أهل عصره واختصر كتاب الجمل لابن خاقان الأصبهاني وغيره وألف برنامجاً بضم رواياته. توفي سنة ست وسبعين وخمسمائة رحمه الله تعالى.
