عبد الرحمن بن المطرف بن سلمة فقيه طليطلة وحافظها ومفتيها كان من أحفظ الناس وأعرفهم بطريق الفتيا ذا فضل وصلاح روى عنه القاضي أبو الأصبغ بن سهل وتفقه عند شيخنا محمد بن أبي جعفر. قال صاحب الصلة: ومن شيوخه أبو عمر الطلمنكي وأبو بكر بن مغيث والمنذر بن المنذر وغيرهم. كان حافظاً للمسائل درياً بالفتوى نوظر عليه في الفقه. وتوفي في عقب صفر من سنة ثمان وتسعين وأربعمائة. ومن الثانية عشر التي ذكرها محمد بن رشيق من أهل سبتة:
