عبد الله بن محمد بن يوسف بن الفرضي أبو الوليد القرطبي الحافظ مؤلف تاريخ الأندلس كان فقيهاً عالماً بجميع فنون العلم وقال أبو مروان بن حيان: وممن قتل يوم فتح قرطبة: الفقيه العالم الأديب الفصيح بن الفرضي قتله البربر في داره وواروه من غير غسل ولا كفن ولا صلاة ولم ير مثله في سعة الرواية بقرطبة كان حافظاً للحديث متقناً لعلومه أديباً بارعاً ولي قضاء بلنسية وكان حسن البلاغة والخط. وتوفي سنة ثلاث وأربعمائة عن اثنين وخمسين سنة.
