أحمد بن محمد بن عبد الله الشهير بابن المخلطة هو قاضي القضاة: فخر الدين مولده بثغر الإسكندرية في عام ست وتسعين وستمائة. كان فاضلاً في مذهب مالك إماماً في الأصول والعربية. رحل إلى الشام وسمع من الحافظ أبي الحجاج المزي وشمس الدين الذهبي وغيرهما وقرأ الأصول على شيخ الفن: شمس الدين الأصبهاني والعربية على القاضي عماد الدين أبي الحسن الكندي وعلى أثير الدين: أبي حيان وتفقه بالإمام أبي حفص: عمر بن قداح: تلميذ أبي محمد: عبد الكريم بن عطاء الله. وولي قضاء الإسكندرية مرتين: إحداهما سنة تسع وخمسين وسبعمائة. وفيها توفي رحمه الله تعالى.
