أحمد بن محمد بن عبد البر بن يحيى أبو عبد الملك قرطبي طلب العلم كثيراً واعتنى به أخذ عن شيوخ الأندلس وعول علىبن لبابة وأخذ عن الجلة فاتسع في الرواية والدراية. وكان بصيراً بالحديث حافظاً للرأي فقيهاً وألف تاريخاً مشهوراً. كان متصرفاً في فنون العلم. توفي سنة ثمان وثلاثين وثلاثمائة.
