١٨٦ - زيد بن مرة أبو المعلى قال (٧): لم أجد من ترجمه. قلت: هو زيد بن مرة، وهو ابن أبي ليلى، أبو المعلى مولى بني العدوية البصري. قاله ابن معين (٨)، والبخاري (٩)، وأبو حاتم الرازي (١٠).ووثقه كل من ابن معين (١)، وأبي داود الطيالسي (٢)، وقال أبو حاتم الرازي (٣): صالح الحديث. وقد وقع في هذا الراوي اختلاف كبير من جهة طبقته واسمه. وقد بينه أحسن بيان العلَّامة اليماني في تعليقه على ترجمة أبي المعلى من "التاريخ الكبير" (٤)، فلينظر.
