    علي حَنَش (١١٤٣ - ١٢١٩ هـ = ١٧٣٠ - ١٨٠٤ م) علي بن قاسم حنش الذيبيني ثم الصنعاني: فاضل، من المشتغلين بالتأريخ. ولد في مدينة " ذيبين " باليمن، وانتقل إلى حصن كوكبان. وجال في الديار اليمينية، وحج، ثم استقر في صنعاء، وتوفي بها. كان العباس يقربهويرشحه للوزارة، لعقله وفضله، ثم سخط عليه فسجنه سبع سنين. وأخرجه المنصور باللَّه علي بن العباس سنة ١١٩٤ هـ له " تتمة تاريخ محسن بن الحسن " وقد وصل هذا إلى سنة ١١٧٠ هـ فأتمه صاحب الترجمة إلى سنة ١١٨٩هـ ذاكرا فيه الحوادث وبعض التراجم (١) .
