    عَلْوَان الجَحْدَري (٠٠٠ - ٦٦٠ هـ = ٠٠٠ - ١٢٦٢ م) علوان بن عبد الله بن سعيد الجحدري المذحجي:رئيس رفيع الشأن، من أهل اليمن. قال صاحب " العقود " في ترجمته: كان قيلا من أقيال اليمن، كريما شجاعا مقداما. ملك ناحية عظيمة من شرق اليمن، وهي حجر ونواحيها، وحارب ملوك الغز. أسره السلطان نور الدين بالحيلة وحبسه في حصن جب، ثم أطلقه وأعاد إليه حصونه. وكان شاعرا له " ديوان شعر " في مجلد ضخم (١) .
