ابن حَرْب (١٧٧ - ٢٣٦ هـ = ٧٩٣ - ٨٥٠ م) جعفر بن حرب الهمدانيّ: من أئمة المعتزلة. من أهل بغداد. أخذ الكلام عن أبي الهذيل العلاف بالبصرة. وصنف كتبا قال الخطيب البغدادي إنها (معروفة عند المتكلين) وكان له اختصاص بالواثق العباسي. قال المسعودي: وإلى أبيه يضاف شارع (باب حرب) في الجانب الغربي من مدينة السلام (٢) .
