(٩٨) (بخ ٤ - عمرو) بن عبد الله بن صفوان بن أمية بن خلف الجمحي المكي. روى عن كلدة بن الحنبل ويزيد بن شيبان وعبد الله بن السائب المخزومي ومحمد ابن الأسود بن خلف. روى عنه عمرو بن دينار وعمرو ومحمد ابنا أبي سفيانالجمحي والحكم بن جميع السدوسي قال الزبير عن بعض أصحابه توالى خمسة في الشرف فذكر جماعة عمرو فيهم وذكره ابن حبان في الثقات. قلت. وقال ابن سعد كان قليل الحديث وقال الزبير فيه يقول الفرزدق* تمشي تبختر حول البيت منتحيا … لو كنت عمرو بن عبد الله لم تزد قال وكان له رقيق يتجرون فكان ذلك يعينه على مكارمه*
