أبو عمرو شيخ قدم دمشق إن لم يكن يوسف بن يعقوب بن الأخوين، فهو غيره. حدث عن سعيد بن يحيى الأموي بسنده إلى معاوية بن إسحاق قال: رأيت سعيد بن جبير عند الميضأة في الغلس، وهو ثقيل اللسان، فقلت: ما لي أراك ثقيل اللسان؟ قال: ختمت القرآن البارحة مرتين ونصفاً.
