يحيى بن عتبة بن عبد السلام من دمشق. وقع فيه وهم وهو: ابن عبد السلمي، وهو من حمص. حدث يحيى عن أبيه عتبة قال: دعاني رسول الله ﷺ فقال: ما اسمك؟ فقلت: عتلة بن عبد، فقال النبي ﷺ: بل أنت عتبة بن عبد. وحدث عنه قال: قال النبي ﷺ يوم قريظة والنضير: من أدخل هذا الحصن سهماً وجبت له الجنة. قال عتبة: فأدخلته ثلاثة أسهم.
