محبوب بن رجاء أبو الضحاك الحضاري. أخو الحسن بن رجاء كان كاتباً لأحمد بن طولون ولابنه خمارويه بن أحمد أبي الجيش، ولم يكن بمصر في زمان محبوب كاتب أنبل ولا أعظم مروءة، ولا أحسن منزلاً منه، وكان فيه أدب، فمما ذكر من شعره، وحكاه أبو العباس بن الفرات له، قوله في جارية هويها وخببها على سيدتها، ثم أخذتها من عنده: " من مجزوء الرمل "أمل كان نظير الش ... شمس في بعد المكان استحطته إلى الأر ... ض وفاءات العواني ودنا حتى إذا ني ... ل بلمس وعيان استردته يد الده ... ر فعندنا في الأماني
