محمد بن محمد بن عبد الله البغدادي ابن حمزة بن جميل أبو جعفر البغدادي نزيل سمرقند سمع بدمشق. حدث عن أبي زرعة، وروى أبو زرعة بإسناده إلى أبي هريرة، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: " اقتلوا الحيات وذا الطفيتين فإنهما يلتمسان البصر ويسقطان الحبل ". توفي أبو جعفر سنة ست وأربعين وثلاث مئة؛ وكان ثبتاً صحيح السماع.
