محمد بن عبد الله الفرغاني أبو عبد الله الفرغاني من شيوخ الصوفية. قال: حدثني أبو جعفر الحداد قال: كنت في طريق مكة، فجلست أستريح، فإذا إلى جانبي عصفور على حجر، فلم يبرح، ولم يستوحش فجعلت أبصر إليه؛ يجيء الذباب، فيضرب منقاره، ويرم حواليه، فيفتح فاه، فيدخل الذباب فيه! فرأيت هذا منه مراراً، فقمت غليه، فإذا هو أعمى، والذباب الذي يجيء إليه رزقه. قال أبو الحسن علي بن عبد الله بن الحسن بن جهضم الهمذاني: رأيت أبا عبد الله الفرغاني يحمل الخبز والأدم للفقراء، وهو شيخ من مشايخ الدمشقيين.
