ليث بن أبي رقية الثقفي مولاهم ويقال: مولى أم الحكم بنت أبي سفيان، وكانت متزوجة في ثقيف، وكان كاتب سليمان بن عبد الملك، وعمر بن عبد العزيز. قال ابن ماكولا: رقية - بضم الراء وفتح القاف والياء المشددة المعجمة باثنتين من تحتها. قال خليفة في تسمية عمال سليمان: كاتب الرسائل ليث بن أبي رقية مولى أم الحكم بنت أبي سفيان ثم ذكره خليفة في عمال عمر بن عبد العزيز.
