    كثير بن عبيد بن نمير أبو الحسن المذحجي الحمصي المقرئ الحذاء إمام جامع حمص. كان ثقة. روى عن بقية بن الوليد بسنده إلى عون بن مالك الأشجعي قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: " من قتل قتيلاً فله سلبه ". وعن بقية بسنده إلى ثوبان عن النبي ﷺ: أنه رأى ناساً على دوابهم في جنازة، فقال: " ألا تستحيون؟! الملائكة يمشون على أقدامهم وأنتم ركبان! " عن أبي بكر بن أبي داود أن كثير بن عبيد أم بأهل حمص ستين سنة، فما سها في صلاة قطز قال أبو سليمان الربعي: سنة سبع وأربعين ومائتين - فيها مات كثير بن عبيد الحذاء. وروي أنه حدث بحمص سنة خمس وخمسين ومائتين - فالله أعلم.
