غياث بن جميل أبو الخضر المقبري قال غياث: حفرت في مقابر باب توما وأنا سبي - وكان من أبناء ثمانين سنة أو دونها - قال: فلما وصلت إلى اللحد رأيت مثل النطع، فكشفت فإذا فخذعظيمة! فهالني ما رأيت - وكنت أحفر بين يدي شيخٍ مقبري مسن، وكان أطروشاً - فقلت له: ما هذا؟ وأوقفته على الحال، فقال: يا بني هذا من الصحابة ممن كان مع خالد بن الوليد لأن كان لباسهم الفراء. وكان الحفر من نحو القبلة من المقابر، عند السور في باب توما.
