علي بن الحسن بن جعفر أبو الحسين البغدادي البزاز المعروف بابن كرنيب وبابن العطار من أهل الخرم من ناحية الرصافة من شرقي بغداد، سمع بدمشق. حدث بالمخرم عن أبي جعفر محمد بن الحسين بن جعفر الخثعمي بسنده إلى عبد الله قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: عليكم بالشفاءين: العسل والقرآن.وكان أبو الحسين يقول: ولدت في سنة ثمان وتسعين ومئتين، وسمعت الحديث سنة ست وثلاث مئة. وتوفي أبو الحسين سنة ست وسبعين وثلاث مئة.
