عبد المنعم بن الحسن أبو الفضل المعروف بابن اللعيبة الحلبي رجل من أهل حلب محب للأدب، نصيبه منه وافر، وهو بما يحاوله منه ظافر، سريع الخاطر في النظم والنثر، مائل إلى الشجاعة، ومعان بها، حتى إنه يرمي عن المنجنيق، ويضاهي فيه كل عريق، وله في الموسيقى يد جيدة طويلة، ويلحن شعره، ويغني لنفسه. ومن قوله في صبي: من المتقارب أبا حسنا وجهه كاسمه ... وياطلعة البدر في تمه ويا ظالما أنا عبد له ... ولاأتشكاه من ظلمه فلا يعجل الماس في حربه ... فإن السلامة في سلمه
