    سفيان بن مجيب وقيل نفير ابن مجيب الأزدي له صحبة. وسفيان أصح، كان على إمرة بعلبك من قبل معاوية وقيل: سفيان بن بخيت، وسفيان بن مجيب هو الصحيح. حدث الحجاج بن عبد الله الشمالي وكان رأى رسول الله ﷺ أو حج معه حجة الوداع أن سفيان بن مجيب حدثه وكان من أصحاب النبي ﷺ وقدمائهم أن في جهنم سبعين ألف واد، في كل واد سبعون ألف شعب، في كل شعب سبعون ألف دار، في كل دار سبعون ألف بيت، في كل بيت سبعون ألف شق، في كل شق سبعون ألف ثعبان، في كل ثعبان سبعون ألف عقرب لا ينتهي الكافر والمنافق حتى يواقع ذلك.
