    جبريل بن يحيى بن قرة ابن عبيد الله بن عتبة بن سلمة بن خويلد بن عامر بن عائذ بن كلب بن عمرو بن لؤي بن رهم بن معاوية بن أسلم أحمس بن الغوث أبو غالب البجلي الجرجاني. شهد حصار دمشق مع عبد الله بن علي، وولي بعض مغازي الروم في أيام المنصور، وولاه المهدي سمرقند. وفي سنة أربعين ومائة كتب أمير المؤمنين أبو جعفر إلى صالح بن علي يأمره ببناء مدينة المصيصة، فوجه جبريل بن يحيى فرابط بها حتى بناها، وفرغ منها سنة إحدى وأربعين ومائة. وقيل: إن صالح بن علي وجه جبريل بن يحيى الخراساني في سنة اثنتين وأربعين ومائة في جماعة من أهل خراسان إلى المصيصة، فبنى مدينتها القديمة وعمرها وأنزلها الناس.
