    بلال بن جرير بن عطية ابن الخطفى، واسمه حذيفة بن بدر بن سلمة بن عوف بن كليب بن يربوع بن حنظلة التميمي اليربوعي الكلبي، من البصرة، شاعر بن شاعر. وفد على بعض خلفاء بني أمية. ولي بلال السعاية على تيم والرباب، فمر بمنازل بني تيم بن عبد مناة بن أد، فلبس النساء بتوتهن، ورفعن سجوفهن، وتزين جهدهن وقلن: مرحباً بابن جرير، انزل فلك ما شئت من شواءٍ وأقطٍ وتمرٍ وسمن، فأما الطحين فطار فلا طحين، يردن بذلك ما قال فيهن جرير: إذا أخذت تيميةٌ هادي الرحا ... تنفس قنباها فطار طحينها قال: فاستحيا بلال فعدل عنهن وبه حاجةٌ إلى النزول عندهن.
