أحمد بن الحسين بن داناج أبو العباس الزاهد الاصطخري سكن مصر. وسمع جماعة. حدث في خمس وثلاثين وثلاث مئة إملاء بسنده عن أبي هريرة قال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول في الشونير: عليكم بهذه الحبة السوداء فإن فيها شفاء من كل شيء إلا السام، يريد الموت. كان فارساً ممتعاً بإحدى عينيه رجلاً صالحاً زاهداً. كتب الحديث بمصر. وكان كتب عن أهل بلده والغرباء. وكتب عنه قبيل وفاته، وأملى عليهم في المسجد الجامع العتيق. توفي بمصر يوم الاثنين يوم عشرين من شهر ربيع الأول سنة ست وثلاثين وثلاث مئة.
