    محمد رضا الصافي ١٢٩٨ - ١٣٦١ هـ / ١٨٨١ - ١٩٤١ م أبو علي السيد محمد رضا بن علي آل صافي الموسوي. سياسي قدير، وأديب رقيق الروح، وشاعر. ولد في النجف، وبها نشأ وتلقى مقدمات العلوم على أساتذة عصره، وتطلع إلى علوم الدين فأتقن أكثرها. كانت له مشاركة فعالة في إقامة الحكم الوطني، وضحى بماله وعرض نفسه لشتى الأهوال، فقد عقد أول مؤتمر وطني في بيت الصافي، وكان أحد أعضاء المجلس العلمي الذي هو بعض المؤسسات التحريرية للنجف. وبسبب مواقفه الوطنية تلك اعتقل من قبل الإنجليز وسجن في سجن الحلة، فقال في ذلك أبياتاً من الشعر.
