    محمد الشرفي الصفاقسي ١٠٧٢ - ١١٥٧ هـ / ١٦٦١ - ١٧٤٣ م محمد بن محمد المؤدب الشرفي الصفاقسي. ولد في حدود ١٠٧٢هـ، ولا يعرف شيء عن نشأته غير أنه، أخذ عن الشيخ عبد العزيز القراني، الفقه والنحو ورواية الحديث، وحصل علوماً جمة. ولما رجع إلى بلده، وظهر علمه، بنى له حسين بن علي باي، مدرسة بنهج العدول وكانت المدرسة مقصد الطلاب من الجنوب والساحل. وكان الشيخ الصفاقسي زيادة عن تخصصه في الرياضيات والفلك ضليعاً في العلوم الحديثة واللغوية واشتغاله بالأدب والشعر. يدور شعره في قصيدة غزلية واحدة، وأغلب شعره يدور حول المدح والرثاء.
