    الإمام الشوكاني ١١٧٣ - ١٢٥٠ هـ / ١٧٦٠ - ١٨٣٤ م محمد بن علي بن محمد بن عبد الله الشوكاني. فقيه مجتهد من كبار علماء البحث من أهل صنعاء ولد بهجرة شوكان من بلاد خولان باليمن ونشأ بصنعاء وولي قضاءها سنة ١٢٢٩هـ ومات حاكماً بها. وكان يرى تحريم التقليد. له ١١٤مؤلفاً منها (نيل الأوطار من أسرار منتفي الأخيار -ط) ثماني مجلدات، و (البدر الطالع بمحاسن من بعد القرن السابع -ط) مجلدان و (إتحاف الأكابر -ط) ، و (الفوائد المجموعة في الأحاديث الموضوعة -ط) ، وكذلك (السيل الجرار -ط) جزآن (فتح القدير -ط) في التفسير و (تحفة الذاكرين) .
