الأُقَيْبل بن شِهاب ? - ? هـ / ? - ? م الأُقيبل بن شهاب الكلبي. شاعر، فارس، كان في جيش الحجاج الذي بعثه عبد الملك بن مروان لمقاتلة عبد الله بن الزبير في مكة، وكان الحجاج قد أوهم الجيش أنه منطلق إلى الحج، فنزل الطائف ثم رحل إلى مكة فنصب المنجنيق على جبل أبي قبيس فلما رأى (الأقيبل) ذلك أنكره وقال بذلك شعراً فطلبه الحجاج ليقتله فهرب حتى لحق بدمشق واستجار بقبر مروان بن الحكم فكتب له عبد الملك بن مروان كتاباً إلى الحجاج، إلا أنه شك فيه فقرأه فإذا فيه حتفه ومقتله، فلحق بقومه في باديتهم ولم يزل معهم حتى هلك.
