    ابن فُركون ٧٨١ - ٨٢٠ هـ / ١٣٧٩ - ١٤١٧ م أبو الحسين بن أحمد بن سليمان بن أحمد بن محمد بن أحمد بن إبراهيم بن هشام القرشي. شاعر، هو ابن أحمد بن فركون أحد تلاميذ ابن الخطيب ومن خاصته. وقد ورث شاعرنا عن أبيه الذكاء الحاد والنبوغ المبكر، وقال الشعر صغيراً ولا يعرف له اسم سوى كنيته أبو الحسين. وكان ينظر في شبابه إلى العمل في ديوان الإنشاء، وقد حصل له ما أراد بعمله في كتاب المقام العلي. ولما بويع يوسف الثالث مدحه ابن فركون، فنال عنده الحظوة، وغدا شاعره المختص المؤرخ لأيامه بشعره وأصبح ابن فركون بفضل منصبه وأدبه مرموقاً في المجتمع الغرناطي.
