    ابن دريد الأزدي ٢٢٣ - ٣٢١ هـ / ٨٣٨ - ٩٣٢ م محمد بن الحسن بن دريد الأزدي القحطاني، أبو بكر. من أئمة اللغة والأدب، كانوا يقولون: ابن دريد أشعر العلماء وأعلم الشعراء، وهو صاحب المقصورة الدريدية، ولد في البصرة وانتقل إلى عمان فأقام اثني عشر عاما وعاد إلى البصرة ثم رحل إلى نواحي فارس فقلده آل ميكال ديوان فارس، ومدحهم بقصيدته المقصورة، ثم رجع إلى بغداد واتصل بالمقتدر العباسي فأجرى عليه في كل شهر خمسين دينارا فأقام إلى أن توفي. من كتبه (الاشتقاق -ط) في الأنساب، و (المقصور والممدود -ط) ، و (الجمهرة-ط) في اللغة، ثلاثة مجلدات، و (أدب الكاتب) ، و (الأمالي) .
