    ٤٥٥ - أبو العباس المزني أبو العباس عبد المعز بن بشر بن بشر بن محمد بن بشر بن عبد الله بن محمد بن بشر بن معقل المزني الواعظ من أهل هراة. من بيت العلم والحديث، وكان واعظاً فاضلاً، سديد السيرة، ظهر به نوع زمانه أقعدته في البيت. سمع القاضي أبا عامر محمود بن القاسم الأزدي، وأبا سهل نجيب الواسطي، وأبا عطاء عبد الأعلى المليحي،وغيرهم. كتبت عنه بهراة في النوبتين جميعاص، وكانت ولادته يوم النحر وقت صلاة العيد في ذي الحجة سنة ست وسبعين وأربعمئة بهراة، وتوفي بها صبيحة يوم الأربعاء السادس والعشرين من شهر ربيع الآخر سنة خمسين وخمسمئة.
